Biketopia is a community bike-workshop in Berkeley, CA.
We educate and empower members of the East Bay community to build, maintain & ride bicycles.
We do so primarily through three areas:
- DIY bike workshop. Fix a flat, do a full shop-quality bike tune-up, or build a bike from scratch. We are open Monday through Friday from 4pm to 8pm, and everyone's welcome to come in and tap into our expertise and use our tools for a $4-6 daily fee, or free for members. (annual membership $40-60.)
- Mechanics classes. Take your bike repair skills and knowledge to the next level through our bike mechanics classes. These are run by experienced bike mechanics that are also Biketopia volunteers, and go three Saturdays in a row. Inquire in the shop to learn more and sign up.
- Youth internships. We proudly host youth interns from our local community, that wish to learn about bike repairs and the day-to-day operations of a bike workshop. Interns work on bike maintenance and restoring donated bikes, as well as assisting patrons.
Biketopia is a volunteer-run non-profit organization and in the process of becoming a 501c3. All money we receive in shop fees and 2nd hand parts we sell is used to cover rent and other costs. If you wish to make a donations or are interested in volunteering, come by the shop and meet us.
We hope to see you soon! - the Biketopia Team
